Black Cherry Soda
Black Cherry Soda is an eye-catching hybrid strain with the dense bud structure characteristic of Indica, but a mobile, cerebral high more typical of Sativa. As its name implies, Black Cherry Soda is prized for a unique taste but is also notable for its vivid color. While its exact parentage is unknown, this strain’s potency is obvious: THC content ranges from 25 to 30%.
The sativa-dominant hybrid cannabis strain Black Cherry Soda derives its name from its scent and flavor which are both reminiscent of fruit and soda. It also bares dark hues of purples on its harvest-ready buds, which are dense and covered with frosty trichomes.
Black Cherry Soda is a sativa dominant strain with a 20:80 indica/sativa ratio. Looking at the buds, you will come to realize this is what a beautiful strain should look like in the first place. It is incredibly tempting. You will have to see it to believe it, as a picture will never do any justice to the strain and what it has to offer.
The buds are incredibly dense and are covered by tiny crystals and orange hairs creeping through. Additionally, you will notice hues of purple that mix well with shades of light green. It has a very unique berry smell and is quite similar to Blue Dream in this regard.
As for the taste, it is no different from its scent. The strain has a very uplifting high, it is quite potent, but that should not frighten you from giving it a try. The high starts from the back of your head and makes its way to the back of your ears. Black Cherry Soda offers a cerebral experience unlike any other. A few more hits and you will feel the high setting in on your shoulders. It has an amazing upper body tingle that packs quite a punch. That being said, the strain is incredibly effective for treating various conditions like depression, anxiety and even stress.
Its THC levels vary between 25-30%. Black Cherry Soda’s high begins with a mild pressure in the back of the head that then circles to the ears, then inducing uplifting cerebral effects that also keep the mindclear and focused. The body fully relaxes, but the strain will not sedate – making it a great choice for use throughout the day. The body high is more of a delightful tingling sensation rather than numbing.
Cultivators of Black Cherry Soda will find success growing the strain both indoors and outdoors. Plants average about five to six feet tall and begin to flower after eight weeks. The strain produces a solid yield with large, chunky colas and a good leaf to bud ratio.
Some grow notes on this strain’s purple hues: Cannabis flowers turn purple due to the presence of anthocyanins, pigment molecules in the plant’s cells that lurk just beneath the more well-known pigment chlorophyll. In the same way that foliage changes color in colder autumn weather, the anthocyanins in cannabis buds become more stimulated (and produce more purple) if the plant is exposed to a cooler environment in the flowering stage. Black Cherry Soda has been bred to contain a high volume of active anthocyanins, so depending on the phenotype of your seeds, you’ll see varying degrees of saturated purple in the mature buds.
